WHITE ACRES TRAIL BEING RENAMED TO DON ELLIS TRAIL

After almost five years, The Friends of Red Rock Canyon have finally been successful in urging the city to bring this issue before the Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Parks Advisory Board for approval.

On August 13, 2026, the Colorado Springs Parks Advisory Board approved the trail name change from White Acres to the Don Ellis Trail in Red Rock Canyon Open Space.

The Friends have to wait for the city attorney to present the agreement for the name change to us for signing. After signing the formal agreement with the city and paying the $850 fee this change is forecast to be implemented this fall.
