The former Bock residence with its Frank Lloyd Wright inspired architecture, its surrounding rock formations, ponds, and meadows, has a special appeal to many people.
Open-air pavilion project

Converting  the house to an interpretive center was frequently suggested. But, the cost of maintaining and staffing "another Starsmore" made this impractical.

Plans for converting the house into an open-air pavilion which will preserve its distinctive Frank Lloyd Wright inspired architectural features have evolved. As envisioned, the pavilion will provide a gathering place, an open air classroom, a source for trail and interpretive information, and a shelter in stormy weather.
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services has hired Architechnology Systems to develop the project design at a cost of $7,550.

A generous and committed supporter and Board member of Friends of Red Rock Canyon has offered a $50,000 challenge grant toward the pavilion project. Friends of Red Rock Canyon has raised an additional $50,000, including $5,000 which Friends of Red Rock Canyon itself has committed.  The remaining funds for the somewhat over $200,000 project is to come from City funds.
